HCC, Koninklijke Haagsche Cricket & Voetbal Vereniging
Royal The Hague Cricket Club (HCC), founded in 1878, is the second oldest and the largest cricket club in the Netherlands and part of the Royal Hague Cricket and Football Club.
Our home ground is the Diepput, situated at the van Hogenhoucklaan in the Benoordenhout area of The Hague and consists of two cricket pitches, one with a charming lawn with an artificial wicket and one with an all weather playing surface with an artificial strip, as well as four outdoor nets. The main pitch has a state of the art electronic scoreboard and the second pitch a more traditional, manpowered board.
HCC founded the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) in 1883 and has won the league no fewer than 49 times since, most recently in 2022. We are proud of our heritage while we focus on the future. Our successes have always been due to the development of home-grown players and we are mindful that our youth section is our stepping stone to a bright and prosperous future.
The cricket club is very much intertwined with the football club (HVV) and our extensive youth section has always been the basis of our success. Girls and boys can join HCC from age 6 onwards and get acquainted with the King of Sports. During the season all age groups practice at our own ground and in our nets under the supervision of fully qualified coaches and in the off-season there are indoor practice sessions.
We enter multiple youth teams in each age group in the national league, with several teams successfully competing for honours each season and for those members up to and including age 10 we have our own in-house competition (VAC) on Friday evenings, with its very own barbecue for parents and players afterwards. At least once every season parents get the opportunity to play against their own children during the VAC family edition. We also organize an annual cricket tour to the United Kingdom for the older age groups.
The club also embraces both competitive and recreational levels of sport in the adult age group. HCC 1 plays 50 over Sunday league cricket at the highest level, HCC 2 at the second highest level and both play T20 cricket as well. We also have two Saturday 35 over league teams (ZAMI) and both teams join our very own T20 invitational league on weekday evenings (Toc d’Or) and play against various visiting touring teams.
We look forward to welcoming you at the club and would very much encourage girls and boys, ladies and gentlemen of all ages to come and join us.
