- A wonderful 2026!

2025 was a year that cricket fans in the Netherlands can look back on with justifiable pride. The Dutch men's and women's teams played successful qualifying tournaments on home soil. Furthermore, the number of cricketers in the Netherlands grew.
At VCC, the men earned a ticket for the T20 World Cup and will be in action starting in February. Later this year, they will also play several qualifying matches in the Netherlands for the ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be played in 2027.
Last summer, our women qualified at VOC for the Global Qualifier, which will take place this month in Nepal. They will compete for one of the four available tickets for the T20 World Cup in England, which will be held next summer.
Parallel to the strong performances of our national teams, we are working very hard to find new sponsors. We hope to bring you good news on this front soon.
We will launch a new competition format on Dutch soil in 2026. This should lead to even better and more competitive cricket. At the request of the General Meeting, a points system will also be introduced, which will no longer allow clubs to field an unlimited number of overseas players. This will create more opportunities for home-grown talent.
Finally, we are working on a new KNCB organization, for which Lucas Hendrikse has laid the foundation. As of March 1, Lucas will be succeeded by Huib van Walsem. The cornerstones are financial stability, attracting sponsors, and a focused organization. This is necessary as a foundation for realizing our ambitions, both in the areas of high performance (national teams, youth teams, top-level cricket, qualitative growth) and cricket development (development, grassroots sports, quantitative growth).
We have started 2026 full of renewed energy and assume this also applies to all KNCB affiliated clubs!
We would like to wish all cricketers and cricket fans a sporting, successful, and - above all - healthy 2026.
On behalf of the board,
Guido Landheer, Chairman KNCB
