- Bangladesh wins first KNCB Embassy Trophy

On Friday 16 September, the first edition of the Embassy Trophy was played at Groen-Geel in Wassenaar. In a sporting and diplomatic atmosphere, the Embassy of Bangladesh won the first event.
The event had four participants: Bangladesh, India, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In connection with the death of Queen Elizabeth, the British team was replaced by a Dutch delegation.
Since Bangladesh won its matches against New Zealand and India, KNCB chairman Guido Landheer - under the watchful eye of, among others, the ambassadors of India and New Zealand - presented the undisputed winner of the tournament with the trophy.
Guido Landheer explains: "The Embassy Trophy is intended to connect different nationalities and cultures. That worked out well and future editions will, in my opinion, grow in size and relevance. The intention is that the next edition of the Embassy Trophy will be played with at least eight countries. The aim is also to organise the event in 2027 on the Malieveld in the heart of The Hague."
