- Bas de Leede selected for the MCC Young Cricketers

VCC-player and Dutch international Bas de Leede has earned a fulltime contract at the MCC Young Cricketers in London for the 2019 season.
In the early years of 2000 Daan van Bunge was one of a few Dutch players to play at the MCC YC’s. The KNCB is happy that after a long time a Dutch player is allowed to participate in the MCC Young Cricketers. and wishes him lots of success during his six month’stay in London.
In an article on the website of his Dutch club Voorburg CC, Bas says: “I am ever so happy to have been presented this chance. Playing for the MCC Young Cricketers is an absolute honour, and it also means I have to chance to catch the eye of professional English cricket. I don’t want to anticipate on anything, but is a way to maybe earning a contract at a county. Pity I cannot now act on the highest level in the Dutch Top League (VCC earned promtion to the Top League in 2018, ed.), but I really could not let this opportunity slip away, and I will try to maybe return to The Netherlands a couple of times to play the odd game for VCC”.
Head Coach John Stephenson of he MCC YS’s: “To have a player of his calibre on the staff will help with the development of our younger players, whilst giving Cricket in The Netherlands help and support to nurture future generations of Dutch cricketers”.
KNCB’s High Performance Manager Roland Lefebvre: “The KNCB is very excited for Bas de Leede to join the MCC Young Cricketers for the 2019 season. Bas is a very talented young player who has represented the Dutch National side and will benefit immensely from this opportunity and develop further. There is a long standing relationship between the MCC and the KNCB and we are very pleased and grateful for the support we have received from MCC’s Head of Cricket, John Stephenson to make this possible”.
