Ben Cooper retires from international cricket

Earlier this week Ben Cooper announced his retirement from all international cricket:

Ben made his debut for the Netherlands in 2013 in a match against Canada and has since played a total of 58 T20I and 13 ODI matches. It was in T20I cricket that Ben excelled most and with a total of 1,239 runs at an average of 28.1 and strike rate of 125 he is the current Dutch record holder.

Ben’s retirement is a great loss for Dutch cricket. Not only as a player; Ben is also a very popular member of the team and his bubbly character in and around the dressing room will be sorely missed. The KNCB wants to thank Ben for all he has done for Dutch cricket and wish him all the best for the future.

His ‘team first’ ethos was always there to be seen as was his love for representing the Dutch. He leaves as our highest ever run-scorer in T20Is and all Dutch fans will never forget his partnership with Wes Barresi where he scored a hundred and secured us the win against Namibia that put us through to the Super League.
