Double qualification Dutch women
The Netherlands women’s XI delivered a top-notch performance by winning the Europe T20 Qualifier in La Manga. Coach Sean Trouw’s team easily won their last encounter vs Germany. Scotland had already beaten the Germans in the morning, and both winners ended on an equal number of points with 6 out of 4. A higher net run rate tipped the scales in favour of the Dutch. Which meant they qualified for both the ICC T20 as well as the Women’s World Cup 50 overs global qualifiers.
It was an undeniable tournament win as The Netherlands had beaten Scotland fair and square in 20 overs in their first match. The second mutual encounter ended in a tie (Scotland 96 a.o. – The Netherlands 96/7) with the super over being won by Scotland by just 1 run on the last ball.
The Dutch top-order can be held accountable for the final win and net run rate. Especially Sterre Kalis had a great share in this with her century of 126 runs in the Netherlands first match versus Germany, in which the Dutch reached a massive and national record score of 196/3. Kalis finished top of the batting statistics with 158 runs from 4 innings. Heather Siegers (81) and Denise Hannema (80) made runs as well as supporting Kalis well. And then there was excellenty support by the middle order like in the second match vs Scotland, with Robine Rijke and Babette de Leede (both 27 runs) keeping their team in the hunt.
Siegers also performed with the ball claiming most wickets (7) with an economy rate of 4.16. Caroline de Lange also had an excellent e.c. of 4.20, claiming some important wickets. Young Annemijn van Beuge made her T20I debut in the second match against Scotland and took 3-14/2, also bowling the super over. Other T20I debutants Eva Lynch, Hannah Landheer and Iris Zwilling performed admirably.
Fieldingwise the team performed well with many good catches and a few spectacular run-outs. Captain Juliet Post and Miranda Veringmeier topping the fielding stats with 4 catches each. Wicketkeeper Babette de Leede shone behind the stumps with 3 catches and 4 stumpings.
T20I debutant Germany lost all four matches, their highest score being 65/7 in their first match against the Netherlands.
Final table

2. Scotland 4 - 6 (nrr 2.371)
3. Germany 4 - 0 (nrr -5.967)
