- Dutch men lose warm-up match to Zimbabwe

After the resounding recent success of the Dutch women – qualifying for the World Cup – the focus is now back on the men, who will play four matches in the group stage of the upcoming T20 World Cup. The first practice match (against Zimbabwe) was lost 178-149 on Tuesday.
Zimbabwe reached 178/9 with Ryan Burl (50 not out) as top scorer. Aryan Dutt was economical with 1-22 in four overs, but was surpassed by Logan van Beek, who took 3-22. Roelof van der Merwe proved his worth as a fielder once again with two catches and a run out.
Batting, Michael Levitt (20) showed a glimpse of his class with two sixes. Scott Edwards reached 26, after which rearguard action from Logan van Beek (40 not out) and Aryan Dutt (18) ensured that the Netherlands – after a 94-8 lead – reached 149.
The second and final warm-up game will be against Australia on Thursday, February 5, before the Netherlands opens their World Cup campaign against Pakistan on February 7.
