- Dutch men stand no chance in first T20I against Bangladesh

While the Netherlands has fond memories of Sylhet – including a legendary victory over Ireland in 2014 – these were not helpful in the first Dutch-Bangla Bank T20I against Bangladesh on Saturday. The home team effortlessly surpassed the Dutch 136 runs in just 13.3 overs.
Max O’Dowd (23) started convincingly with three boundaries in the second over, followed by a straight six in the next. O’Dowd looked dangerous, but on the first ball of first change Taskin Ahmed, he got a leading edge and was dismissed (25/1/3.1). Vikram Singh struggled with his timing and also had trouble rotating the strike (38/2).
A monstrous six from Teja Nidamanuru was followed by a cover drive for four. This slightly boosted the Dutch run rate. Scott Edwards was superbly caught at deep backward square (66/3), followed by Nidamanuru (26) in the same over. Contributions from Shariz Ahmad, Tim Pringle, and Aryan Dutt gave the Netherlands something to bowl against. Taskin took 4-28 for the Bengals.
Hopes for another Sylhet miracle were quickly dashed, however, when Litton Das (54 not out) and Saif Hassan displayed their strokeplay. After 13.3 overs, the hosts celebrated their first T20I victory of this series. Spinners Pringle (with a full toss) and Dutt (with a beauty) each took a wicket.
The remaining two matches will be played on September 1 and 3 at 2:00 PM CEST. These can be followed live and free of charge on the T Sports YouTube channel. Watch the first T20I here.
