- Dutch men's cricket team qualifies for World Cup 2026!

On the final day of the World Cup qualifying tournament in The Hague, the Dutch men's cricket team reached the T20 World Cup. To qualify, the Dutch had to beat Italy, which had previously defeated Scotland in the tournament, and did so easily.
Italy won the toss and batted first. The Dutch had a great start: Dutt got Emilio Gay LBW, Bas de Leede caught the dangerous Justin Mosca and Joe Burns in the outfield (41/3).
Recovery came from the Manenti brothers, 45 for the fifth wicket. 134 was the final score for Italy thanks to 25 runs from Stewart in the final phase. Kyle Klein took 2-27; outstanding in the Dutch attack was Roelof van der Merwe with 3-15.
If the Dutch would make the Italian total within fifteen overs, Jersey would continue on net run rate. So the Netherlands did not only have its own destiny in its own hands. 58/0/5 was promising in that respect for the Netherlands and Jersey.
In the eighth over, Michael Levitt hit the ball into the hands of the deep mid wicket (77/1). Max O'Dowd and Scott Edwards crowned their top week with a winning partnership. However, the 134 runs were surpassed in the seventeenth over, so Italy - and not Jersey - will make its debut at the T20 World Championship in 2026.
Captain Scott Edwards: “I’m extremely proud of this group. Lots of players stepped up at different times throughout the tournament to put us in the position to qualify for this World Cup. A great finish to a top week at VCC.”
