- Dutch teams (m/f) practice for major T20 events


Both the men's and women's national teams played practice matches on Monday, August 11th. The Dutch women secured a solid victory over an Essex team. In the men's ProSeries match, the Hurricanes emerged victorious in a fantastic match with alternating chances.
The women played a practice match against Essex in Billericay, UK. The English women's resilience was on display when, after a meager 18-5 score, they still managed to score 116 runs, thanks in large part to Johnston, who made an impressive 54 not out. In the Dutch attack, Iris Zwilling led the way with 3-15. Leg-spinner Silver Siegers was just as impressive at 2-15, and Isabel van der Woning also took two wickets, while keeper Babette de Leede took three catches.
At 55/2 in the chase, the Netherlands seemed to be in a good position (De Leede 26), but Myrthe van den Raad (24) and Iris Zwilling (21 not out) had to step up in the middle order to secure a win. This happened in the nineteenth over. The Netherlands will play two more practice matches against Essex on August 12 and 13.
Men's ProSeries: Spectacular stuff
The men played a fantastic T20 in the ProSeries. The Seafarers were in a difficult position at 38/4, until a partnership emerged between Olivier Elenbaas (27) and an unleashed Shariz Ahmad (79 not out off 48 balls) for 54 runs for the seventh wicket. Despite 4-32 from left-arm seamer Ben Fletcher, the Seafarers reached 156/7, thanks in part to sixteen runs off the last three balls of the innings.
Despite Aryan Dutt's tight bowling, the Hurricanes got off to a somewhat less sluggish start, with three scores around 20. Someone had to bat through, but when Ryan Klein was dismissed by his brother Kyle, things looked to get tough for the Hurricanes.
However, 17-year-old wildcard Cedric de Lange returned from injury and immediately took on Dutt. His over yielded 20 runs. 21 runs were required off the final over. Then followed a memorable over with Elenbaas bowling and De Lange batting: 6-6-6-4, and an unlikely win for the Hurricanes. Matchwinner De Lange left the field with 48 not out (off 26 balls). Kyle Klein took 3-22.
Two more ProSeries matches are scheduled for August 13 (Salland) and August 20 (VRA).

Plenty of Orange Cricket in the Coming Months
From November 18th to December 1st, our women's team will play an Emerging Countries tournament in Thailand. The match schedule will be announced as soon as possible. In January, the Dutch women will play the T20 World Cup Qualifier in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, which our men's team will also visit around that time. In February 2026, the Dutch men will participate in the T20 World Cup, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
