- Dutch women beat Italy in first T20I

The Dutch women's team has won the first T20I against Italy. The Dutch made 178 and the Azzurri only managed 84 in reply. Babette de Leede excelled for the Dutch with 82 not out.
With Iris Zwilling and the talented newcomer Madison Landsman (who is active at the provincial level in South Africa) as the opening couple, the Netherlands raced to 54/0 in the first Powerplay.
Landsman (36) was given caught behind and shortly afterwards Zwilling (28) hit a full toss into the hands of the cover fielder (70/2).
After this swift opening stand (67 for the first wicket) the scoring pace went down slightly. But not for long; Babette de Leede reached her 50 off 26 balls and finished at 82 not out off 42 balls with ten boundaries. 178 was the 2nd highest score ever of the Dutch women in a T20I.
Innings Italy
An Italian win was therefore not likely, but the Netherlands had no mercy. Tight bowling and fielding resulted in only forty runs being made in ten overs.
Frédérique Overdijk (1-4) and Caroline de Lange (2-8) hardly conceded any runs. The left-handed captain Emilia Bartram was the exception to the rule with a well-made 39, but she could not prevent Italy from being defeated with 94 runs. Landsman took 2-12, Hannah Landheer 2-13.
