- Dutch women defeat Emirates in Bangkok

On the second day of the Emerging Nations Trophy tournament in Bangkok, the Dutch women's team secured a victory over the United Arab Emirates. The Dutch bowling team was superior. The batters, however, struggled to surpass the 93 runs the Arabs had set.
Bowing and fielding, the Dutch team quickly put the UAE under pressure. Frédérique Overdijk bowled the dangerous Esha Oza with a beauty, and the wickets kept falling steadily. Sterre Kalis had a good day in the covers, taking two catches – one of which was a beautiful one – and a run out, which was, however, not given as the ICC opted to leave line decisions to the on-field umpires. Babette de Leede took four catches behind the wicket as the Emirates were bowled out for 93. Three bowlers took 2-20: Frédérique Overdijk, Caroline de Lange, and Iris Zwilling. Robine Rijke even outbowled them with 2-11.
Sterre Kalis and Phebe Molkenboer (15) gave the Dutch team a great start, and at 55-0, everything seemed to be going well. However, the slow pitch fooled several players, and the Dutch lost four wickets in a short time (66/4/13). The score even reached 85/6 when Myrthe van den Raad (9) and Sterre Kalis (40) were out on consecutive balls.
But Merel Dekeling and Iris Zwilling remained calm, played the ball late, knew that singles would be enough, and eventually brought the Netherlands to safety (94/6). Michelle Botha took 2-9 for the UAE.
