- Orange women almost certain of participation in Global Qualifier after victory over Italy

The Dutch women's team has taken a huge step towards qualifying for the Global Qualifier in Nepal in January! The Dutch were too strong for the Azzurri on Sunday: 86/9 - 90/3. This makes second place almost certain.
Italy won the toss and batted first. Rathnayake fell into the 'elephant's trap': hit a short ball in the hands of the deep square leg. Moments later, Sims was the victim of a fantastic direct hit by Robine Rijke (20/3/4.5).
Bartram/ Wikman was a potentially dangerous partnership. Silver Siegers broke it thanks to the second important catch in the outfield of Iris Zwilling (46/5).
The Orange kept the pressure on and limited Italy to 86/9, with Emilia Bartram (29 not out) as top scorer. Iris Zwilling and Caroline de Lange underlined their good form with 3-14 and 2-11 respectively.
Phebe Molkenboer and Heather Siegers made 27 for the first wicket. Despite some misunderstandings and strong Italian bowling, Robine Rijke (35 not out) and Babette de Leede (24) brought the Netherlands the victory.
The Netherlands can still win the tournament if it beats both Ireland and Germany on Tuesday and Wednesday.
