- Dutch women win first FanCode ECIW T10 Championship

The Netherlands women’s team has redeemed itself in great fashion for the shock defeat against Italy on Thursday. In the final it was 129 - 67.
To the surprise of some, Italy opted to field first. However, Heather Siegers (36 off 16) and Sterre Kalis (47 off 26) attacked the Italian attack from the word go with delightful batting. With Iris Zwilling (15 off nine) and Eva Lynch (11 off seven) the runrate barely dropped which led to a fantastic score of 136.
Chasing such a big score is tough, if not impossible. Where the Netherlands were forced to go to their seamers on Thursday, they were now able to rely on their spinners. Annemijn Thomson underlined her good form with 3-15 and the other Annemijn (van Beuge) even took 2-1. Both bowlers profited from alert keeping by Babette de Leede, who added three more stumpings to her tally. Italy only managed 66/7.
With this big win the Dutch were crowned the very first FanCode ECIW T10 champions. Gibraltar’s minister of Equality Samantha Jane Sacramento, presented the Award to the Dutch captain Heather Siegers.
