- Dutch women win T20 test series against Essex 2-1; Seafarers (men) narrowly defeat Hurricanes

Hannah Landheer almost managed to secure victory for the Dutch women's team from a losing position. However, Essex prevailed on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Dutch team recovered impressively; Essex scored 122 runs (Sanya Khurana 2-16), and the Dutch team surpassed that score thanks to Phebe Molkenboer and Robine Rijke. The Seafarers (men) narrowly defeated the Hurricanes in the ProSeries in Deventer: 196-188.
In the second T20 against Essex on Tuesday, the Dutch women batted first. Heather Siegers opened with 25, but things started to go south after that. Hannah Landheer (22 not out) gave the Dutch team (112 all out in 16.3 overs, Sweet 4-21) something to bowl against. Johnston (48 not out) led Essex to victory (113/4 in 16.4 overs, Heather Siegers 2-13).
A day later, the Netherlands put things right. Essex did record the highest total of the midweek (122/7, Khurana 2-16), but thanks to Phebe Molkenboer (32) and especially Robine Rijke (41 not out), that record didn't last long. The Netherlands won the three-match series 2-1.
ProSeries in Deventer
A broad-based Dutch men's squad, supplemented with emerging talent and overseas players, played the penultimate ProSeries match of the 2025 season at Salland CC. Vikram Singh (46) batted well for the Seafarers after a lean patch, with some beautiful cover drives. 103/4/11.3 offered perspective; Shariz Ahmad (53) and Sikander Zulfiqar (27) built on the success with a 57-run partnership for the fifth wicket. A resounding final flourish came from Kyle Klein, who made 24 not out from eleven balls, bringing the final score to 196/6, while Peter Ruffell took 2-36.
With Max O’Dowd (26) and the talented 17-year-old Cedric de Lange (58), the Hurricanes got off to a good start: 42 runs for the first wicket. That partnership was even improved upon when De Lange was joined by his clubmate Noah Croes (43): 92 runs for the second wicket. However, some overs didn't yield enough runs, leaving plenty of scoring to be done in the final overs. Despite thirteen runs from the final over, the chasing Hurricanes fell just nine runs short of victory.
The ‘draw’ selection process before The Series resulted in two evenly matched teams and some exceptionally competitive cricket. The final ProSeries competition will be held on VRA on August 20th at 3 PM.
