- Edwards recovers in lost T20 warm-up game

No success yet for the Dutch in the T20 campaign in South Africa. The fifth meeting with a strong SA20 franchise (Paarl Royals) was lost: 187-124.
Thanks to Viv Kingma, the Netherlands got off to another good start, with few runs for England's Roy and Buttler. After that, however, there is still an impressive line-up. Even if only one batter cuts loose there will be a 180+ score on the board.
And so it happened, with runs for Lubbe 37 (28), Miller 51 (27) and especially Van Buuren 76 (46). Paul van Meekeren took the most wickets, but was expensive (2-48 in four) while Viv Kingma came off the field with the beautiful figures 1-20 in four overs. Paarl Royals 187/4/20.
Max O'Dowd and Teja Nidamanuru (17) had an aggressive start with eighteen runs from the first over, but capitulated shortly afterwards. Scott Edwards was keen on a good score after a lean patch and made 38 off 28 balls. Together with Wesley Barresi (34 off 26) he was responsible for a partnership of 45 runs for the fifth wicket. With Edwards and Barresi gone, however, things went fast; from 108/3 to 124 all out.
On January 12 and 13, the Netherlands will play its last two T20 friendly games against DP World Lions. Scott Edwards will not be playing; he will have joined the Melbourne Renegades by that time.
