- European T10 team wins with strong Dutch input

From 19 to 23 February, four teams will play in Spain for the Weston Shield. This trophy is named after ECN founder Daniel Weston. Max O'Dowd, Shariz Ahmad, Noah Croes, Sikander Zulfiqar and Corey Rutgers (coach) make up the Dutch contribution to the European T10 team, which will compete against a World XI, British & Irish XI and an Asian XI. All matches can be followed live on ECN's YouTube channel.
On Wednesday, the European team had a disastrous start against the British and Irish (0/2 after two balls and a little later 28/5). However, Jeremy Martins (43 off 16) and Afridi (74* off 21) brought Europe back into the game with fantastic batting. In five (!) overs they realized a partnership of 104 runs.
On the British-Irish side, bowlers Allison (2-29) and Sturgess (who finished second in the Merv Hughes lookalike contest) (4-22) excelled. Keeper William Smale took four catches. The final score was still 165/9 despite four ducks. Game on, but thanks in part to two brilliant overs from Shariz Ahmad (1-14), the British and Irish did not reach further than 142.
Europe v Asia
The fact that Europe reached 138 was partly due to a partnership of 33 for the fourth wicket of the Dutchmen Shariz Ahmad (48 off 18 with 7x6) and Sikander Zulfiqar (35* off 13 balls). The response of the Asian team was impressive, especially the innings of Ahmadzai (72 of 21 balls). In the ninth over it was done. Follow the event through https://www.ecn.cricket/scores-fixtures.
