- Final Topklasse | VCC vs HCC

On Saturday, September 3, VCC beat HCC in an exciting duel. In doing so, VCC qualified directly for the national final. A day later, HCC got a second chance against HBS. HBS seemed to win, but HCC successfully fought back and claimed a place in the final.
The captains of the two finalists are Bas de Leede and Boris Gorlee. Both are 22 years old and they know each other well. In the youth leagues, VCC and HCC often competed for national titles, with the teams keeping each other well balanced.
Boris: "For HCC, reaching the final is an achievement, because nobody gave us much of a chance at the beginning of the season. We have grown as a team and played some good cricket. You saw that in the playoffs, where we won four of the six games. In recent years, the rivalry between HCC and VCC has grown, but always with mutual respect. Bas and I have been playing against each other since we were nine, but were also regularly in one team, in the Dutch Lions. We have built a good friendship. VCC was the favourite from the start. But if there's one team that can make it difficult for VCC, it's us. We’re looking forward to it!"
Bas: "Boris and I have of course known each other for quite some time. We have been playing against each other since our youngest childhood. It's nice that we are now both captains and meet in the final. That is the fifth time this season; VCC and HCC both won two. So there is no real title favorite. HCC has a good fighting spirit. They demonstrated that in the game against HBS, when they fought their way back into the game. Our team is ready."
Saturday, September 10, final, VCC vs HCC. Groene Zoom 20, The Hague. Start 11.00 am. Free entrance.
