- Former women's national coach Ed de Moura Correia passes away

Ed de Moura Correia passed away on his 67th birthday (October 7). As of 2010, he was the national coach of the Dutch women's team. He also played for CTC Flamingos for a long time. He played for VOC, Bloemendaal, HCC, (again) VOC, and VRA.
Ed – like his brother Vic – came into contact with cricket as a footballer at VOC. He showed talent and played in the VOC first team alongside illustrious cricketers such as Ton Bakker, René Schoonheim, and the later KNCB chairman René van Ierschot.
After his time at VOC, he played for Bloemendaal for four years and HCC for four years. He then returned to VOC to become captain of VOC 2. He concluded his active cricket career at VRA.
Ed de Moura was the national coach of the Dutch women's team in 2010 and fulfilled that role with great enthusiasm, including during the ICC Women's Cricket Challenge that year. In that capacity, he also spent some time shadowing New Zealand colleagues, about which he wrote this "blog avant la lettre."
Ed wasn't just active in the administrative department of De Flamingo's - he also enthusiastically participated in various tours, which took him to picturesque grounds in England and Wales.
Anyone who ever played against Ed will remember him as a respectable player: good technique, a good sport, and every inch a gentleman.
The KNCB owes Ed a great debt of gratitude for his tireless commitment to cricket in the Netherlands and abroad.
