- Half-century Vikram and Barresi lay foundation for Seafarers victory

The first game between the Seafarers and the Hurricanes is decided in favor of the Seafarers. Their 272 runs were never threatened by the Hurricanes (167 all out). The Seafarers won the toss and batted, with Aryan Dutt bowling at VRA teammate Vikram Singh and Ryan Klein at VCC teammate Michael Levitt.
Clayton Floyd forced a stumping chance on Levitt in his first over; keeper Asad Zulfiqar must have lost the ball visually for a while.
Partly due to the slow outfield, there was no quick start, but both batters found the boundary more often as the innings progressed, including a six by Vikram Singh in the eleventh over.
Left arm seamer Ross ter Braak struck directly in his first over. Levitt cut the ball into Floyd's hands on backward point (43/1).
Singh and Barresi showed great batting. Their 100-run partnership was met in the 28th over, as well as both batsmen's half centuries. Barresi was dropped at 55; the partnership came to an end soon after when Boissevain got Barresi (57) LBW (152/2). An over later, same thing happened to Singh (55) on Dutt's bowling, Photo: LBW, Singh can't believe it.
Scott Edwards (34) and Shariz Ahmad (38) added a further 55 runs for the fifth wicket and when Saqib Zulfiqar (33) also showed attacking batting, the score was 272/9 after fifty overs - well over the 220 which Captain Edwards said he was counting on beforehand. Spinners Aryan Dutt (2-41/10) and Philippe Boissevain (1-22/5) came off the field with good numbers. Ryan Klein distinguished himself as a fielder with two catches and a run out.
Inning Hurricanes
Eight batsmen had a 'start' - with Max O'Dowd (34) as top scorer - but the much-needed high score failed to materialize.
Shariz Ahmad (good for eleven wickets in the Topklasse weekend) excelled with 3-41. Drom, Vikram and Braat each took two wickets. The winning captain, Edwards, had a top day with four catches.
