- Hurricanes and Seafarers in balance in NORDEK ProSeries

July 16, 2024
The Seafarers batted first after winning the toss. Vikram Singh survived some passionate appeals for caught behind and LBW, kept his composure, regained his timing and came off the field with 111 not out (5x6, 9x4). Judging by the score of 184/7/36.5 (after the third rain delay the innings was not resumed), his batting partners were not in good shape; only Kyle Klein scored 20, Sikander Zulfiqar 17. Aryan Dutt (2-27) and Alex Roy (2-30) bowled strongly for the Hurricanes.
188 in 36 overs was set as a DLS target. Michael Levitt was brilliantly caught by Arnav Jain on his own bowling and Kyle Klein soon broke through the defence of Noah Croes and Shariz Ahmad. It wasn't until the fifth wicket that a significant partnership (exactly one hundred runs) was achieved by Max O'Dowd 67 and Ryan Klein 35 not out – also at a pace that temporarily reached the DLS target. Kyle Klein took 3-17, Arnav Jain 2-26. At the fourth downpour and a score of 122/5/25.5, the team batting first won the match on DLS.

With Michael Levitt and Max O'Dowd, the Hurricanes put on a fantastic opening partnership. They started quietly (35/0/10) but picked up the pace and only lost the first wicket at 160 in the 32nd over (O'Dowd 67), followed moments later by Levitt (83). Thanks to Noah Croes (31) and 23 runs from Ryan Klein, the final score was 243/8. In the Seafarers attack, Paul van Meekeren excelled with 4-38.
Batting the Seafarers only got to 108/8 in 26.5 overs before it started raining again and the match could not be continued. Opener Musa Ahmad saw one partner after another go and remained not out with 48. Ben Fletcher took 2-22, Shariz Ahmad 3-12. The Hurricanes won by 111 runs (DLS method).
