- Introducing… Richard de Winter
Dear People of the KNCB,
Since Monday 03-01-22 I have joined the bondbureau of the KNCB in the function of managing director. Of course, my first action was to meet all the colleagues who are directed employed by the bond. Sometimes this was done at a distance (due to the corona policy). Now I also want to introduce myself shortly on the website of cricket Netherlands.
My name is Richard the Winter, and I was born in the year 1959. I’ll be working for the KNCB on a 3 day per week basis (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). I’m married to Maureen (who works full time) and apart from the continued presence of our dog Noah my two sons of 28 and 29 also visit our house regularly.
In the coming months, my focus will be on the operation of the bondbureau and supporting the board and associations in ways that are useful and sensible. In addition, I’ve been asked to help organize the recruitment and selection of a new permanent managing director.
My life and career have been diverse. During my time at the Royal Military Academy, I studied psychology and sociology. In my working life, I have many years of experience working in the automotive world. And, for the last 16 years, I’ve been working in my own company Crystallus Management e.g. (for more information just check my LinkedIn). During this time, I worked in a broad field of private enterprises, semi-public government agencies, and governmental bodies. So far, my career has not included a sports federation. From the 2nd of January onwards, this has changed. Amazing! I’m looking forward to working together with all sections and departments of cricket in the Netherlands.
Luckily the world of sports is not new to me. I’ve been president of an athletics association and currently sitting president of a cycling association. My whole life I’ve been a sports fanatic practising athletics, basketball, judo, rugby, cycling, ice-skating, and boxing. Therefore, the cricket sports environment does not feel entirely new to me. And what a sport is: cricket. I now fully understand why it’s one of the greatest sports in the world.
Next to sports other passions of mine are world history, working in the garden, long-distance walking and drawing and painting.
In so far, a first introduction. If you have any questions? Feel free to give me a call. Sometimes that’s even better than e-mailing, richard.de.winterr@kncb.nl. We will see each other then, or we can meet on a digital channel like WhatsApp. The telephone number is 06-54766864.
Sincerely,
Richard
