- Italy pulls up good fight against Dutch women
In the second T10 in Gibraltar Italy made a strong impression. The victory margin for the Dutch was a mere 21 runs.
Just like against Sweden the Dutch batted first. Babette de Leede opened the innings together with Sterre Kalis. That went swiftly until De Leede was given LBW.
Kalis showed her class with 39. Her cover drive off the last delivery was magnificent. Iris Zwilling (13 off 10) and Eva Lynch (18 off 15) also demonstrated the aggression that is necessary in this format. The Netherlands finished on 90 after ten overs.
A fantastic stop by Jolien van Vliet at square leg, leading to a run out, was one of the highlights of the Dutch fielding session. Despite a quick 13 from opening batter Withanage Italy reached no further than 69. Babette de Leede had four victims whilst Caroline de Lange excelled as bowler, taking 2-5.
On Wednesday the Netherlands will take on the hosts at 17.30. Follow the action live: https://www.ecn.cricket/scores...
