- Khan Asim Khan (62) passed away

Today we received the sad news that former international Asim Khan has passed away. He was only 62 years old.
Asim Khan was born on February 14, 1962, in Lahore, Pakistan. In the Netherlands he played for VRA, Gandhi, Kampong and VVV, among others. Between 1994 and 2002, he played 51 times for the Dutch national team. He was a very successful and economical right arm medium pacer.
Asim had his finest hour on 24 May 1997. In an ICC Trophy match in Kuala Lumpur against East & Central Africa, Asim was unplayable. In 7.2 overs, he took seven wickets for nine runs – still the best bowling figures ever in an ICC Trophy match. The Africans were all out for 26 and it will have come as no surprise that Asim was named Player of the Match that day.
Asim was a cheerful man with a great sense of humour. We will miss him and wish his relatives strength from the beautiful memories that Asim has left behind both on and off the field.
