- Klein, Asad and Musa demolish Hungary and Finland

The Netherlands A has shown its teeth again against Hungary and Finland in Malaga at the Dream11 T10 tournament. Ryan Klein was in great form. In his 47 there were no less than seven (!) sixes. It was a fairly one-sided duel: 159-117. Against Finland it was Musa Ahmad who showed his class with 62 off 15 (9x4, 4x6).
Against Hungary, Asad Zulfiqar and Philippe Boissevain (17 off 12) opened excellently, followed by a short but fierce 16 from four balls from Saqib Zulfiqar.
Next was Ryan Klein. After three balls he was on 12 and the score was 92/2 after six overs. Moments later, Klein was out for 47 off eleven balls with seven sixes! An incredible example of power hitting.
Klein missed a record (the fastest 50) when he was caught on the boundary, after which Asad Zulfiqar took over with a wonderful 50. He retired to give Dutt a few balls. 159 was the rather spectacular end result.
Hungary had to play ‘va banque’ and that brought the usual risks with it. A failed reverse sweep, a brilliant direct hit by Boissevain and fine catches by Gorlee, Dutt and Braat did not help the Hungarian cause. Losing seven wickets in the first five overs was probably not in the Hungarian script.
Abhitesh Prashar is the stand-out player of Hungary and in this case the white raven with a score of 62 (off only 20 balls) that was impeccable. Hungary made 117/8; Floyd was great again with 3-19, Arnav Jain 3-29.
Finland loses as well
Facing a razor-sharp Dutch attack Finland only managed just 94 runs. The legspinners were excellent once again; Boissevain 1-7 in two overs and Saqib Zulfiqar 2-10 in two.
It took the men in Orange only 31 balls to get past the Finnish score thanks to Gorlee (24 not out off nine deliveries) and especially Musa Ahmad who batted brilliantly for 62 off 15 (!) with nine fours and four sixes.
On Friday 23 September, the Netherlands A will take on the number two. That day, the qualifiers and elimination matches will be played. The final will determine which team will go to the Championship Week in the week of October 10.
