- Lancashire Thunder too strong for Dutch women

In the second practice T20 in Manchester at Sale CC, the Dutch selection was allowed to bat first. A total of 136/7 turned out to be insufficient as Lancashire Thunder won by seven wickets.
Just like in the first T20, there was no toss; this time, the Dutch selection batted first. Already in the second and third over, Sterre Kalis (17) and Frédérique Overdijk found the boundary several times. When both openers went LBW, it was Babette de Leede who held the innings together with a powerful 69 off 55 balls with ten boundaries. Important was a partnership of 43 runs for the sixth wicket with Merel Dekeling (16 not out). 136/7 was a final result that was comparable to the total that Lancs had achieved (and successfully defended) the day before.
So there were opportunities, but Lancs went for the win from ball one. Liberty Heap in particular was a plague again for the bowlers, this time with 60 runs off just 39 balls. The win went to the English team in the sixteenth over. In the Dutch attack, Hannah Landheer (1-21) had a success to celebrate; Isabel van der Woning excelled with 2-14 in three overs - a good short practice trip just before the five T20Is on Dutch soil against the United States.
