- Myrthe van den Raad gives Southern Suns first Tachyon Security Super League Cup

The first edition of the Tachyon Super League had a spectacular final. Against the odds, the Southern Suns went past the Western Sharks' 72 runs on the very last ball of the T10 game thanks due Myrthe van den Raad who made a blistering 32 not out.
The Women's Super League was set up this year to create exciting match situations and train powerhitting. At the same time, fielding under pressure is then trained and bowlers also have to think carefully about their game plan.
All goals were met and the crowd was treated to cricket of a very good standard. The Sharks batted first after winning the toss. By analogy with the men's match in Zimbabwe, a wicket fell on the very first ball of the match. Phebe Molkenboer (23) and Robine Rijke (20) showed attractive batting in a partnership of 38 runs for the second wicket. 72/4 in the available ten overs was the result. Isabel van der Woning (1-5) bowled with good pace and had excellent figures.
For a long time, it looked like the Southern Suns wouldn't top 72; in the two final overs, a whopping 35 runs had to be made. However, Myrthe van den Raad played the innings of her life. The penultimate over yielded 28 runs, including two sixes and two fours. Seven runs needed of the last over and one of the last two balls. Myrthe (32 not out of 16 balls) missed the penultimate ball, but on the last one she gave the Southern Suns the first Tachyon Security Super League Trophy. A feast to watch for the neutral cricket fan.
