- Netherlands A beats Scotland in T10 tournament Malaga

The Dutch domestic cricket season may be something of the past, but the season for our internationals is far from over. In Australia, our men are preparing for the T20 World Cup for which they qualified in July. In Spain, the Netherlands A competes (under the captaincy of Sebastiaan Braat) in the Championship Week of the Dream11 European Cricket Championship.
While the Scots were too strong for the Netherlands in a T20 warm-up game in Melbourne (151-133, see KNCB website for report), in Malaga the roles were reversed: 156-130.
The Dutch won the toss and batted first. On the second ball there was already a spectacle when Musa Ahmad was dropped on the cow corner boundary. Ahmad and Clayton Floyd (26 off ten balls) made a partnership of 42 for the first wicket in the Powerplay (three overs).
After Floyd's departure, Ahmad (26 off twelve deliveries) took on the aggressor role. Boris Gorlee (24 off seven balls) did a fantastic job with his trademark rampshots, until he was bowled by 2.06 m tall seamer Adrian Neill. As in the Group Stage, Ryan Klein was impressive with 27 runs off just twelve balls.
Thanks to quickfire contributions from Sikander Zulfiqar (21 off ten balls) and Olivier Elenbaas (17 off five), the Netherlands were 156/6 after the available ten overs. Scottish legspinner Hogarth took 1-19, the experienced Alasdair Evans 2-29.
Scotland innings
When Viv Kingma was successful in his first over two times (catching by Floyd and Asad), the match seemed to be over before it had begun. However, Scotland came back well with 19-year-old Jack Jarvis and Taimoor Ahmad who was beautifully caught by Saqib Zulfiqar at cow corner off Floyd's bowling. It was the 17-year-old debuting left arm spinner Udit Nashier who dismissed the destructive Jarvis (40 off twelve).
Kess Sajjad caused some fireworks with 47 not out off 21 balls, but in the end Scotland (130/7) came up well short. Nashier (2-17) and Kingma (2-30) were the key wickettakers. The Dutch took seven catches, of which Viv Kingma took two.
In total, there are eight games on the programme for the Netherlands A this week, apart from possible finals on Friday, October 14.
