- Netherlands chase 160 Jersey runs succesfully

The Netherlands have defeated the surprisingly strong Jersey in the first match of the European T20 World Cup qualifying tournament. Jersey made a relatively high score - 160 runs - but the Orange chased it, thanks in part to 60 runs from Max O'Dowd.
The Netherlands won the toss and chose to field first. Due to the absence of most county players and a number of injuries, the Netherlands played with only two seamers and four spinners.
At 16/2 the Netherlands was on top. At this stage, Captain Scott Edwards' changes worked out well. Jonty Jenner (27) was bowled by Bas de Leede and Aryan Dutt and Daniel Doram were also successful in the early stages.
Zak Tribe attacked Kyle Klein, but Klein bowled the 23-year-old batter in the expensive thirteenth over for 39 (111/6).
Small but quick partnerships helped Jersey to a total of 160/7. Bas de Leede took 2-23, Kyle Klein 3-42.
Innings Netherlands
The start of the innings was disastrous from a Dutch perspective. The man in form, Michael Levitt, already had to clear the field in the first over.
However, with a partnership of 101 runs for the second wicket, Max O'Dowd and Zach Lion-Cachet (50) brought the Dutch back into the game. When O'Dowd was dropped on 46 and Scott Edwards played his usual attacking innings, the islanders' chances of winning shrank significantly. O'Dowd (62) was dismissed when he wanted to finish the game with a six, but Edwards (41 not out) got the Dutch home in the final over.
The match against Scotland will be on Tuesday at 4 PM CEST.
