- Netherlands U19 convincingly defeat Guernsey in first World Cup qualifier

In Scotland, the Dutch U19 team (men) made a strong start to the World Cup qualifier. Guernsey were bowled out for 103 and were easily defeated. The winner of this tournament will earn a place in the World Cup.
Captain Cedric de Lange won the toss and let Guernsey bat. This decision paid off as bowlers Aaditt Jain (4-14!) and Alejo Nota (1-9) kept the pressure on from the start. Wickets fell regularly, and with the score at 58/7, Guernsey had their backs to the wall. New signing Steele Grooteman made his mark with 3-12 in ten overs, including six (!) maidens. There was some rearguard action from top scorer Harry Johnson (25), but this battle yielded only limited results for Guernsey as they were all out for 103.
After that, Dutch fans had to hope for a win amidst the Scottish showers. Ultimately, the DLS target was set at 72 runs in 26 overs. Cedric de Lange (43 not out off 39 balls) batted aggressively and almost single-handedly reached the target in 12.2 overs. A great start for a strong squad that certainly has a chance of a World Cup spot.
