- Netherlands U19 leave European World Cup Qualifier tournament with a win
The Dutch U19 squad played the ICC U19 Men's CWC Europe Qualifier between September 19 and 25. They faced Ireland, Scotland and Jersey. They won the first match, but weren't able to grab the victory versus Scotland and Jersey, meaning they didn't play the final on Saturday 25 September. A brave performance nonetheless! Pierce Fletcher, Netherlands U19 head coach, looks ahead to the tournament:
“I am very excited for the qualifiers. We have an extremely talented and committed squad of players.
In the likes of Vikram Singh and Aryan Dutt we have two players with full international experience which will be a massive benefit to our squad.
Playing at Desert Springs will be a great experience for our young men as the facility is one of the best in Europe.”
Update from the ICC:
The ICC U19 Men’s CWC Europe Qualifier host venue has moved from the La Manga Club to Desert Springs following consultation with ground staff and ICC pitch consultants. Following a lengthy period of inactivity due to the pandemic, followed by high summer temperatures and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier last week, it was deemed in the best interest of all concerned to relocate the event to Desert Springs. With just one ground, the event - featuring teams from Ireland, Jersey, Scotland and the Netherlands - will now run as a 4 team Single Round Robin event followed by a final on 25th September between 1st and 2nd in the RR
