- Oranje wins first T20 warm-up match against Guernsey

In the run-up to the T20 World Cup qualifiers, the Netherlands will play two warm-ups this week. Guernsey were the victims on Tuesday evening at Kampong: 164/6 – 105/9.
Logically, the Netherlands batted first. After a difficult opening over by Harry Johnson that lasted eleven balls, Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd put down a smooth opening stand of 61 runs, with Levitt (70 retired from 46 balls) as the main contributor. A little later, captain Scott Edwards (40 off 26) also achieved a strike rate of around 150. 164/6 was the final result.
Apart from contributions from Fitchet and Damarell (both 20), the islanders had no answer to the spin of Zach Lion-Cachet (3-9) and Roelof van der Merwe (2-7) and the medium pace of Hidde Overdijk (2-20), who has returned to the squad.
The second and final warm-up will be on Thursday 3 July at 4 PM at Kampong. The opponent is Jersey, which is also the first opponent of the Dutch team during the qualifying tournament on Saturday 5 July at 11 AM at Voorburg CC.
