- Recommendations taskforce women’s and girls’ cricket

Recently a committee was established to consider improving the recruitment of new players in the Netherlands. This committee has come up with the following concrete ideas:
1. Appointment of a Program Manager Women’s/ Girls’ Cricket (target date: 1 April 2026)
• Working within the framework of the Taskforce recommendations
• Other supporting initiatives
• Collaboration with clubs is crucial!
Initiatives 2026
2. Organising softball matches/tournaments at and with clubs
3. Exploring and initiating a U15-19 girls’ competition with regional teams (also aimed at meeting the ICC criteria in the future regarding girls’ cricket)
4. Social media strategy with the Women T20 World Cup as the focal point
5. Dialogue with clubs regarding club membership fees for girls/women’s cricket
6. Use of ICC formats (e.g. CRIIIO) to support club/school initiatives
7. Events focused on girls cricket around the WCT20 Trophy Tour and club events during Women’s Cricket week (17-23 June)
The program manager will also join the Women’s Committee.
The taskforce emphasises that efforts should be made to establish the Program Manager Women’s/ Girls Cricket as a structural (permanent) role within the KNCB.
