- Scotland beat Netherlands despite strong bowling Van Beek

In the second duel with Scotland as part of the NORDEK T20I TriSeries, the Netherlands did not come close to their solid game in the first meeting. Weak bowling and fielding led to too many (158) Scottish runs. The Netherlands’ attempt to surpass this score stranded at a meagre 87.
The Netherlands won the toss and opted to bowl first. Max O'Dowd and Teja Nidamanuru made way for Kyle Klein and Wesley Barresi.
Michael Levitt took a sharp catch, but at this stage the Dutch also dropped three seemingly simple catching opportunities. George Munsey didn’t mind at all and rushed - thanks in part to three sixes off one Tim Pringle over - to a half century off only thirty balls.
In the meantime, the second and third Scottish wicket had fallen on 73 when Logan van Beek bowled Charlie Tear and captain Richie Berrington was immediately caught behind in the tenth over.
‘Nelson’ and a Logan van Beek catch were necessary for eventually eliminating Munsey for 72 (111/4) in the fourteenth over.
Kyle Klein's first T20I-wicket heralded a fightback from the Netherlands. Vikram Singh caught danger man Matthew Cross and on 128/6 the Dutch were back in the game. Where previously 200 seemed possible, the Scottish late middle order managed 158/7.
Viv Kingma took 1-13 whilst Logan van Beek excelled with 3-13.
Netherlands innings
The Netherlands innings had a disastrous start. Opening batsmen Vikram Singh and Michael Levitt were dismissed within two overs (7/2). 25-year-old left arm seamer Brad Currie then cleaned Sybrand Engelbrecht with a beauty (19/3).
Bas de Leede (27) and Scott Edwards (29) constructed a partnership of 41 for the fourth wicket, but otherwise ‘Oranje’ did not impress. Currie (2-12), legspinner Greaves (2-13) and especially left arm spinner Mark Watt (4-12!) dominated in the Scottish attack. The last six wickets fell for 26 runs.
On Thursday, Scotland and Ireland will play against each other at 11am. On Friday, the Netherlands and Ireland will face each other again at the same time.
