- Second T10 against Scotland prey for the Dutch
The Netherlands A has also won its third match in the Championship Week of the T10 tournament in Malaga. A frustrated-looking Scotland was badly beaten when the Orange managed to chase 105 Scottish runs in just seven overs.
In this format, winning the toss usually means batting first and that is exactly what Scotland did. However, every time a partnership threatened to blossom, the Netherlands struck. The fall of a wicket irrevocably leads to a drop in the runrate and today was no exception.
Scotland had to settle for 105 runs, after another excellent final over from captain Sebastiaan Braat, with a handful of perfect yorkers. The Netherlands took six catches of which Ryan Klein took three. The prettiest catch however was taken by Sikander Zulfiqar in the covers. Saqib Zulfiqar and Sebastiaan Braat both conceded only fifteen runs and were also effective with two and three wickets respectively.
Innings Netherlands
The Netherlands had the worst possible start. Musa Ahmad, the hero of the win over Italy, was run out without facing a delivery, and Gorlee's attempted rampshots failed this time, giving left arm seamer Brad Currie a maiden over (!).
Fortunately for the Netherlands, Floyd put things in order with an over of 24 runs. Gorlee recovered in formidable fashion with 42 not out off twenty balls.
And so, despite the disastrous start, the target came closer rapidly. In the fifth over, Floyd fell for 31 off fourteen balls, but by then the score was already 74.
Ryan Klein (24 not out off nine deliveries) did not hit the ball cleanly most of the time, but his thick edges flew for four anyway. The Dutch were all over Scotland now and fittingly the winning hit was an easy catch that was dropped. In the process the Scots forgot to let Brad Currie (0-0!) bowl his second over. Seven overs was all it took to pass the Scottish total: 106/2.
