- Senior contracts for Cooper and O'Dowd
In 2020 we have seen several changes in regard to player contracts. Ben Cooper and Max O’Dowd were upgraded to senior contracts. This decision was based on their fantastic performances they showed during the 2019 season and T20 World Cup Qualifiers and well deserved.
Another player who benefited from an impressive T20 WCQ tournament was Brandon Glover. He was awarded a KNCB junior contract. As he has signed a three year contract with Northamptonshire CCC starting on the 1st of April, his contract will only run until the end of March 2020. Bas de Leede has signed a full time contract with the MCC Young Cricketers starting on the 1st of January which means his KNCB rookie contract was not extended. Another player who is going to join the MCCYC’s on a part-time white-ball contract is Philippe Boissevain. He will be joining them straight after the Namibia tour and will stay until the beginning of July.
Contracts for Pieter Seelaar, Tobias Visée, Scott Edwards and Vivian Kingma were renewed for another year.
It was decided that the contracts for the two longest serving professional players, Wesley Barresi and Stephan Myburgh, wouldn’t be renewed. Both these players have been contracted since 2011 and have had fantastic careers representing the Netherlands in all formats of the game. They won’t be retiring from international cricket though and will still be available for selection.
