- Sharks past Suns in attractive first Super Series game

The Super Series women have started with an attractive match. For now, the Sharks were stronger with 100/7-101/6 in 16.5 overs, but what was particularly striking was the number of talents coming up.
The women's cricket competition is not (yet) of a super high level. In 2023, the then national coach therefore started with selection teams competing against each other. The series, sponsored by Tachyon Security at the time, was of a high level and had a thrilling finale on the picturesque HCC ground.
This year, the 'Southern Suns' put down a modest 100/7/20 on a sunny VRA ground in Amstelveen, with Phebe Molkenboer (37) as the top scorer. The young Manouk de Bruijn took Molkenboer's wicket and stood out with 1-10. Isabel van der Woning bowled strongly with 2-15; Iris Zwilling only conceded fourteen runs in her four overs.
Merel Dekeling (31) laid the foundation for the 'Western Sharks' for the victory. The Sharks did not get it for free, as the Suns took six wickets before Annemijn Thomson made a smooth and match winning 29 off 22 balls in the middle order.
Here too, two names stood out: Pien Oost, who already made herself heard in Spain at the T10, and Noa Mais, player of Odiham & Greywell CC in England, who played herself into the spotlight with 3-14. There is 'plenty of talent' coming up that the Dutch can benefit from in the long run.

Plenty of Orange Cricket in the Coming Months
From November 18th to December 1st, our women's team will play an Emerging Countries tournament in Thailand. The match schedule will be announced as soon as possible. In January, the Dutch women will play the T20 World Cup Qualifier in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, which our men's team will also visit around that time. In February 2026, the Dutch men will participate in the T20 World Cup, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
