- Southern Suns boss Northern Panthers

Attention to powerhitting, that was one of coach Shane Deitz's goals when a Women's Super League was set up with three teams with past, present and future international players. On Friday, that message came out just fine with good cricket. Southern Suns defeated the Northern Panthers 73/2 to 72/3 in the ten-over game at VCC.
Thanks to great weather and a well-attended club night, there was also quite a crowd at the clash. They saw both Annemijns – Thomson (23) and Van Beuge (21) – play good innings with strike rates above 100. For the Southern Suns, Eva Lynch (2-14) and Myrthe van der Raad (1-14) took the wickets.
Carmela Appel (1-8) and Aadhya Sharma (1-20) both took a wicket for the Northerns, but could not prevent Babette de Leede (33* from 23 balls) and Carlijn van koolwijk (24* of 14) from winning for the Southern Suns in 8.5 overs.
On June 2, the Southern Suns will take on the Western Sharks. On June 9, Northern Panthers will play the Southern Suns. Also on June 16, 23 and 30, 10 over games are scheduled, each starting at 7 p.m.
