- Succesfull Dutch tour in India

After the T20I quadrangular series in Oman, The Netherlands men’x XI travelled on to India for a series of 5 50-over matches. Coach Ryan Campbells team won 4 out of the 5 matches.
Both the Dutch and their Indian opponents fielded many different players in the five matches. There were some exiciting performances, like Myburghs century in the second match (102) and 98 runs by Bas de Leede in the final encounter with the bat. Captain Seelaar, who also handed over the captaincy to Scott Edwards (picture), bowled very consistently; there were a few surprising bowling spells by the experienced Wesley Barresi, taking wickets regularly, and he also scored runs on a regular basis.
In the last match vs MRCA The Netherlands fielded a young team with amongst others Arnav Jain, Hidde Overdijk, Leon Turmaine, Bas de Leede and Sebastiaan Braat, who returned bowling figures of 3-26/8, while Overdijk grabbed 2 wickets (2-25/6), and Bas de Leede scoring his near-century (98). This match came to a thrilling finish with Jain and Turmaine grabbing the last two wickets for a narrow win: Netherlands 259/5 (Max O’Dowd 84), MRCA 247 a.o. in 47.4 overs.
Captain Pieter Seelaar on Twitter: “A challenging tour to India comes to an end. These were a tough but very enjoyable two weeks. We have learned and been tested as cricketers and characters. Four wins out of five matches, with great individual performances all round. On to an exciting Dutch summer!”
