- Team effort helps solid Netherlands to win over Nepal

In a fantastic match the Netherlands women beat a fighting Nepal 157-137.
16,000 online viewers and a crowd of over 500 at the Kirtipur stadium witnessed a delightful match.
Nepal sent in the Dutch after winning the toss. Batting seemed difficult early on as the ball often kept low.
Sterre Kalis (29) fought her way towards a good score. Heather Siegers’ (23) first scoring shot was a magnificent six over the top.
Iris Zwilling (31 not out off 13) played a brilliant knock, but the anchor woman was Robine Rijke who made a crucial 59 not out. 157 was the excellent result.
For Nepal lefthander Magar was looking good, but the Dutch were able to get her batting partners out, thanks in part to catches by Robine Rijke and Iris Zwilling.
Number six Mahato’s cameo ended in the safe hands of Hannah Landheer on the mid wicket boundary. Joshi made a quick 27.
Nepal made 137 - a good start by the Dutch, who will face Thailand on Friday.

Following our national women's team's successful participation in the inaugural ICC Emerging Nations Trophy in Thailand, new major tournaments are already on the schedule for our national teams. In January, the Dutch women will play the T20 World Cup Qualifier in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu. The top four teams will qualify for the T20 World Cup in England in the summer of 2026. In February and March 2026, the Dutch men will participate in the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka. One of the top matches is the one in Ahmedabad on February 18, 2026, against host nation India.
