- The Netherlands lose to England, but beat Austria by a big margin

Netherlands XI also impressed on the second day of the T10 matches in Malaga. Although England proved too strong (103-59), Austria was put aside with 159 -59. Iris Zwilling was the first woman to make a century in the Women's T10.
Iris Zwilling hit Mahadewa for 23 in her first over (3x6), could have been caught on 49, but instead reached a wonderful 50 in just sixteen balls. At the other end, Annemijn Thomson (34 off 24) provided the perfect support by giving Zwilling the strike and hitting a boundary when the opportunity arose. The 100 was reached in the eighth over and Zwilling reached a fantastic century of her own in the last over. The final score of the Netherlands was a whopping 159/1 off the available ten overs - impressive power hitting from the Dutch ladies.
The Austrian batting was anything but impressive. The bowling and fielding of the Dutch team was simply too good. 59/9 was the final score. Robine Rijke, Caroline de Lange (who both took a great return catch) and Hannah Landheer each took two wickets.
England: different level
England won the toss and opted to bat first. It was a merit of the Dutch bowlers that England 'only' managed 103/2 (Pai 50); a solid but not unachievable score. Robine Rijke (2-22) took both wickets. Caroline de Lange (0-12) was economical and it was a pity that Merel Dekeling (0-5) only got one over.
The Dutch batters then couldn't get a grip on the solid bowling of the English women. With 73 runs, the Netherlands could have earned a bonus point, but that did not happen. The strike rates of the top order batters were (much) too low, partly due to opening bowler Wheeler (1-5 in two overs). 59 was the disappointing result.
Remaining matches Netherlands XI: December 19 09.45 a.m. Spain, 3.45 p.m. Italy; December 20, 1:45 p.m., Austria; December 21, 1:45 p.m., England XI; Friday 22 December: finals day.
