- The Netherlands loses first World Cup friendly game to Scotland

The Netherlands has not been able to win its first T20 World Cup warm-up game. At the Junction Oval in Melbourne, the Dutch saw Scotland successfully defend 151/7.
Batting first, toss winner Scotland made 151/7 with Berrington (41) and Leask (37) as top scorers. In the Dutch attack, Brandon Glover (3-17) and Bas de Leede (3-20) excelled. Stephan Myburgh took three catches, keeper Scott Edwards two.
In the Dutch batting line-up both lefthanders Myburgh (caught at third man off a top edge) and Vikram Singh were selected. Singh (31 off 38 balls) made a partnership of 64 for the second wicket with Max O'Dowd (43 off 35, caught at long on), but was run out by Michael Jones due to a magnificent direct hit.
The Netherlands had to work hard to stay on schedule. The last 63 runs had to be made in 36 balls, the final 46 out of 24. That was too much to ask on the disciplined and varied attack of the Scots, despite attempts by Tom Cooper (18) and Scott Edwards (15 not out). Left arm spinner Mark Watt took 1-19 in his four overs. The Netherlands finished 133/7.

In February 2026, the Dutch men will participate in the T20 World Cup, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
