- The Netherlands stronger than Canada in first ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 duel

The first One Day International to count for qualification for the 2027 Cricket World Cup ended in a win for the Netherlands: 194-195/5.
Aaron Johnson was soon bowled by Kyle Klein; the perfect start for the Dutch.
Despite some difficult dropped catching opportunities, the Dutch managed to take a wicket every now and then. Max O'Dowd took a simple catch at mid off and Dilpreet Bajwa (25) was eliminated by Noah Croes with a sharp slip catch (50/3). One run later, Captain Kirton fell into the elephant's trap that Paul van Meekeren had set up for him and Barresi grabbed the chance to catch at third man.
After 51/4, Harsh Thaker (35) and Shreyas Movva created a productive partnership of sixty runs for the fifth wicket, albeit not at a fast pace. Michael Levitt broke it by bowling Thaker (111/5).
The scoring pace remained low, but the Canadians tried to put a price on their wickets. 220-230 was still possible at this stage.
Shariz Ahmad took a perfectly judged catch at deep mid wicket. With this, Paul van Meekeren was successful again with a short ball (156/6).
Movva (65) and Heyliger then briefly opened their shoulders. At 176 Michael Levitt took a sharp catch in the covers and shortly afterwards Kaleem Sana was bowled by Kyle Klein (183/8). 194 all out was the end result, with Kyle Klein (4-33) and Paul van Meekeren (3-41) excelling in the Dutch attack.
Netherlands innings
Michael Levitt and Max O'Dowd gave the Netherlands the ideal start.
When Levitt (45 off 50) hit a square cut in the hands of the point fielder, there was no man overboard (77/1).
O'Dowd and Vikram Singh added another 78 runs for the second wicket at a pleasant pace from a Dutch perspective, with O'Dowd reaching his eleventh ODI fifty.
He saw his partner Vikram (29) being caught off a leading edge and three other batsmen being dismissed, but the Netherlands did not get into any real trouble: 195/5 with Max O'Dowd undefeated on 79.
