- Third T20: Thailand surpasses Dutch score in final over
The Dutch women’s team has lost their third T20I against Thailand. The hosts only surpassed the 73 Dutch runs in the final over.
As a result of heavy overnight showers there was an 11.15 AM start, reduced to 19 overs per team, the Netherlands batting first and Frédérique Overdijk replacing Jolien van Vliet.
In the second over Heather Siegers was caught at mid off and De Leede was run out: 4/2.
The Dutch could not get over this disastrous start. Players were mostly unable to hit balls into gaps; 22 runs after eight overs was anything but a fast start.
Things became even more difficult when Rijke (17) was also run out. Kalis (17 off 34) tried to play the reverse sweep and was out LBW. The Dutch barely got a grip on the Thai attack. Overdijk managed 10 off twelve but 73 was the meagre end result. Boochatham took 2-3.
Thailand innings
Despite excellent bowling by the Dutch the Thai had a swift start (40/0/9). There was some hope for the Netherlands when Koncharoenkai and Chantham were both caught.
A next catch behind the wicket was not given, but Hannah Landheer put this matter right with a fantastic direct hit. After that two more wickets fell thanks to the excelling Landheer who took 2-10.
Thailand only made the winning run in the final over. The Dutch would have had a good chance of winning if their batting performance would have been better.
