- Tine de Ruiter (23-11-1929 – 20-5-2025)

With sadness the KNCB received the news that Tine de Ruiter, former chairwoman of the Dutch Women's Cricket Association (NDCB), passed away at the age of 95.
Tine de Ruiter-Klomp played in the Dutch league for Kampong between 1946 and 1969. She also played in the Dutch women's national team. She remained involved in women's cricket for a long time, but that came to a virtual standstill between 1970 and 1974. After a renewed start in 1975, Tine became chairperson of the NDCB, founded in 1934, in 1978 and remained so until 1983. Between 1981 and 1984 she was also involved in the then KNCB Promotion Committee. In 1984, Tine was the initiator of the booklet '50 years of women's cricket in the Netherlands'. In the initial phase, she also guided the NDCB to the merger with the KNCB in 1985.
Tine was married to cricketer Henk de Ruiter. She often accompanied her husband to competitions. Golf eventually became her new sport at which she was also successful. Together with Henk, she often played golf at SGS. Before her recent fall, she still played frequently.
Tine was not someone to sit still: she remained very social in her private life. For many years she delivered meals to (other) elderly people.
Last year she was present at her old club, Kampong, at the 95th anniversary of SGS. Recently, she promised to come to a cricket match again this summer with her son Edwin. Sadly, that wish will not be fulfilled.
The KNCB wishes the relatives strength with this great loss.
