- UAE beats the Netherlands by a wide margin

The Netherlands lost the second World Cup qualifier in Abu Dhabi to the host nation, the United Arab Emirates. The Dutch made 101, the UAE surpassed this without losing a wicket.
The beginning was disastrous for the Netherlands. Top batter Sterre Kalis went LBW facing her first ball and shortly afterwards Babette de Leede was bowled through the gate by an inswinger from 17-year-old Dharnidharka (10/2).
Some recovery came from Heather Siegers (12) and Robine Rijke, who brought the score to 33/3/4.3 at a pleasant pace.
A partnership of 33 runs for the fifth wicket (Overdijk 12) brought the Dutch to 82/5. Time started to press, but when the Netherlands lost the sixth and seventh wicket (Rijke a well-made 44) it had to be careful not to be bowled out within twenty overs.
However, UAE brought back opening bowler Dharnidharka (3-11) and she soon struck for 85/8.
Caroline de Lange provided a revival with the most beautiful cover drive of the evening, but more than 101 was not viable for the Dutch.
Innings UAE
Esha Oza and Theertha Satish provided an excellent opening for the Emirates. With 48/0/6 and 72/0/10 they were cruising. The big win was therefore never in jeopardy for the host country, with Captain Oza making half a century.
On Wednesday, the Netherlands will play against Zimbabwe.
