- VOC leaves ACC empty-handed

On Saturday VOC managed to maintain its position in the Topklasse. The promotion-relegation match, played at Hermes DVS, was won by the Rotterdam side when ACC couldn't follow up a promising start (195/3) and only managed 236/8. VOC surpassed this total in the 50th over, thanks in large part to Scott Janett.
VOC captain Tim de Kok asked ACC to bat first. Arora (60), Jami (34), and Van der Merwe (59) took the Amsterdam side to 195/3 in the 43rd over. However, they were unable to accelerate in the final overs, thanks to strong bowling and fielding— at least in this phase—from VOC. From Amsterdam's perspective, 236/8 was a disappointing final result, despite an overthrow (!) on the very last ball of the innings. It certainly wasn't down to brothers Arnav Jain (2-15 in ten overs) and Aaditt Jain (2-41) who bowled excellently.
VOC innings
VOC must have smelled blood after the Amsterdam side's unproductive final overs. Scott Janett, in particular, was determined to keep his team in the top flight. With a monumental 83 not out, the 21-year-old New Zealander laid the foundation for Rotterdam's victory. The main support came from Jason van der Meulen (56) and Arnav Jain, who remained unbeaten with 41 runs. Incidentally, the winning hit in the final over was a dropped catch at long-on that went for four, so the match could have been even more exciting.
