- Who is... Zach Lion-Cachet?

In 2024 and 2025, the seasoned Orange fan suddenly saw a new name emerge: Zach Lion-Cachet. Time for an introduction to the 21-year-old all-rounder from Sussex.
First of all, how should we pronounce your surname?
“It’s actually pronounced leon-cash-ay but I have heard it so many different ways that i just let people say what they want now!”
Please tell us something about yourself.
“I was born on December 15, 2003 in Oxford, England. As I grew up, I played cricket for Oxfordshire in minor county cricket before I was picked up by Sussex to be on their academy at 17. After doing well in the U18s and second team, I was given a short term contract at the start of August 2023 and made me debut in the 50 over competition later that month. I then signed a full time contract at the end of that season.”
How did you become a Dutch international player?
“I qualify for Netherlands through my father. He also played for the Netherlands, but rugby, not cricket!”
What are your most memorable cricket experiences so far?
“My most memorable moments so far definitely has to be making my debut for Sussex in 2023, Netherlands in T20I in 2024 and recently my ODI debut in Namibia.”
