- Will the Netherlands U19 qualify for the World Cup? Watch the livestream on August 6th!

After a substantial victory over Sweden, the match on Wednesday, August 6th, will be about the one World Cup ticket that’s available. Hosts Scotland have often proven superior in the past, but the Dutch U19 team is making a very strong impression this year with wins over Denmark, Jersey, Guernsey, and – on Tuesday – Sweden (263-59).
Due to the notorious Scottish weather, the match against Sweden was played on Tuesday instead of Monday. Although the Dutch U19 team had consistently chased successfully up to this point, they opted to bat this time, and that proved to be the right choice on a pitch that was deteriorating.
Cedric de Lange made 24. Teun Kloppenburg seemed unconvinced that the ball was caught correctly in the covers. A 120-run partnership from Tom de Leede (74) and Mark Wolfe (60) for the fifth wicket made for a defendable total. Besides some well-timed cover drives, the batters also played their sweeps and ramp shots succesfully. Aaditt Jain proved a very useful number 7 with 42 runs from 33 balls. 263/8 was – under the circumstances – an excellent result.
Sweden's innings
The Dutch U19 team must have known they had a chance on the unreliable pitch, with 263 runs on the board. This quickly became apparent, as the Dutch bowling was traditionally disciplined. At 22/6 (Alejo Nota 3-14), the match was effectively over. The bowling figures were excellent as left-arm seamer Sam van Giezen seized his chance with 2-12 and Thomas McArthur with 3-10.
Follow the match here on Wednesday, August 6, via the Cricket Scotland website. The winner will advance to the U19 World Cup. In the event of a tie, the Dutch team has a superior Net Run Rate.

Lionesses defeat Scotland
The Dutch U17 Lionesses recorded a resounding victory over Scotland. In the TriSeries in Deventer, the Dutch team reduced the Scots to 97-8 (Lieve Gilding 3-3). The fielding was strong, with some beautiful catches in the outfield and a superb direct hit run-out by Mishika Shrivastava.
In the Dutch response, Mia van Egdom's quick 35 not out was crucial for the victory, while lefthander Mishika Shrivastava opened with a creditable 23.
