- Four Dutch cricketers on auction list WPL 2024
Amstelveen, December 6, 2023 -- On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the second 'auction' of international players for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will take place. With four Dutch contenders: Iris Zwilling, Robine Rijke, Heather Siegers and Sterre Kalis.
Earlier this year, Indian teams were able to apply to get their hands on one of the five licenses. The total price tag was $572 million.
Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers (Bengaluru), Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz (Lucknow), and Mumbai Indians are the five franchises that registered a women's team.
There are 165 players on the list, including 104 Indian players. Of the 61 overseas, fifteen are from 'Associates' such as the Netherlands.
Iris Zwilling had a good season in which she developed into one of the most important all-rounders in the Dutch women's team. She has taken 48 T20I wickets to date for 798 runs (econ. 5.18) and 448 runs (13.57) in this format.
Robine Rijke spent the winter in New Zealand and had a fantastic year. She has now made 605 T20I runs (15.51). Her bowling stats will be particularly eye-catching: 23-246 (10.69) with an economy rate of 4.55.
Heather Siegers has made 749 T20I runs (19.71) and taken 18 wickets for 364 runs so far.
Sterre Kalis has 973 T20I runs to her name (37.42).
On December 9, the names of the selected players will be announced.

Dutch women's team to host Scotland and PNG in August
Scotland and Papua New Guinea (PNG) will visit the Netherlands in August for a number of One Day Internationals and T20I's. The matches will count towards the international ICC rankings. Scotland and PNG do not yet have an ODI ranking; The Netherlands is thirteenth. In the T20I ranking PNG is eleventh, Scotland fourteenth and the Netherlands fifteenth. The slight difference in ranking guarantees exciting matches and close finishes.
